Let’s be honest: the 4-drop spot in VS 2PCG is a coveted spot.
Up until the release of A-Force, the 4-drop was mostly dominated by Sabretooth. His Berserker ability more than justified his 4 cost, and his 2 health meant that he would be staying around for longer than your opponent would like. The release of Defenders brought about some solid 4drop competition with MODAK, Venom, and the less played Moon Knight, but Sabretooth held firm in his domination of that spot.
With A-Force, Goblin Queen became the new hotness for Thanos and easily replaced Sabretooth in most Thanos lists. The occasional Spiral saw play due to her Mobile ability, and even Dazzler for her cute tricks.
With the release of the Aliens expansion right around the corner (Gencon, August 4th), it seems inevitable that the meta will shift yet again. Thanks to Upper Deck, we’re fortunate enough to give a glimpse into how the game may shift.
While his attack and defense are nothing to brag about at a cost of 4, it’s his 3 health and his Artificial Person ability that really adds value. He won’t be kicking Goblin Queen out of her home any time soon, but the ability to drop him and another Supporting Character on turn 4 is significant.
With 3 health, he also presents an obnoxious wall your opponent will have to deal with. Drop on the spoiled M41A Pulse Rifle and Bishop is kicking butt and taking names from the back row!
Now we just have to wait and see if there is a Knife Equipment included in the set:
The Aliens expansion is set to hit stores sometime in August, with its official release at Gencon 2016! Make sure to grab the expansion, as it is 100% compatible with the VS 2PCG Marvel Battles expansions!
